Define has been appointed by Land Securities to prepare an Urban Design Code for the second phase of housing growth taking place at Ebbsfleet Eastern Quarry. This second phase is known as Castle Hill South, and provides for around 800 dwellings, retail and leisure units, and benefits from a stunning lake and cliff side location, whilst being only 5 minutes from Ebbsfleet International Station.
Eastern Quarry forms the single largest component of Ebbsfleet Garden City – a central government led vision for 15,000 homes guided by the recently formed Ebbsfleet Development Corporation.
our appointment is the outcome of a quality led assessment undertaken by an independent design review body, principally influenced by our empirical approach to coding, and experience of masterplanning garden suburbs and villages. We have led, prepared and audited numerous design codes over the last 10 years, and this has shaped our coding philosophy to ensure the mandatory placemaking requirements are rigorously controlled, with minimal cross referencing, with direct control of the consistency of built form and appearance whilst identifying areas for future innovation.
We look forward to the challenge of setting out precise design rules to deliver an inspiring mixed-use community.
