Define have been involved from the project outset in shaping an acceptable form of development for this sensitive site on the eastern edge of Tunbridge Wells, including land designated as Green Belt and AONB, leading discussions and presentations with the LPA and through Design Review.
We prepared a landscape and public realm design strategy and woodland strategy, to support an outline and detailed planning application for the development of 550 new homes. We also undertook a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (including around 30 verified viewpoints with development form modelled iteratively to respond to visual sensitivities) and coordinated the preparation of an Environmental Statement. Following the grant of outline and detailed planning permission, we have also prepared technical and construction design packages for the key public open spaces, streets and surrounding woodlands along with the coordination and production of a LEMP which combines community involvement with the ongoing management of the surrounding protected woodlands. This scheme is now largely complete and has achieved very strong support (as well as local awards) for its design quality.
