This new community sits beyond the current outer edge of Daventry and settles into the Rolling Ironstone Hills landscape character area. This context has shaped its principal challenge; how to connect strongly to Daventry to support and utilise its central facilities, whilst assimilating into its dramatic landscape backdrop.
We have promoted this scheme through a design review and consultative process leading to the preparation of a planning application for over 1,000 homes, primary school and community facilities. Our design approach has been demonstrably landscape led, with a green and blue infrastructure strategy leading the character and form of the proposed development, whilst being underpinned by detailed technical analysis. An accurate topographical and built model, with associated photography and virtual camera positioning, has allowed us to shape the proposed development form and height alongside a ‘realtime’ assessment of how development will be visible in the key views of the site from the local landscape.
