Define acted for a private client on a stunning site overlooking the Vale of Health Pond in Hampstead Heath. The site is located in Metropolitan Open Land (which has the same status as Green Belt) and involved the re-development of a 1950’s property into a larger, slate clad contemporary dwelling. Define audited the scheme and gave detailed evidence in respect of the scheme’s design, massing, townscape and visual impact at a public inquiry.  That demonstrated how the scheme (designed by James Gorst Architects) enhanced the adjacent conservation area, and whilst the built volume and floor area increased, would meet the requirements of the NPPF. The scheme was subsequently permitted on appeal.
