Tyseley Regeneration

Location: Tyseley, Birmingham
Client: Helical Bar and Mucklow
Sector: Shape
Scope: Regeneration

Define prepared a development framework and detailed public realm design for the development of a 6,000m2 food store, 25,000m2 of employment floorspace and 50 new dwellings on former industrial sites close to Birmingham City Centre.  The scheme demonstrated how the proposed mixed use development could sit appropriately in the context of the existing tight knit residential area, as well as the garden suburb character of Olton Boulevard, whilst also highlighting how the City Council’s historic aspiration for a strategic link road could be delivered.  Define undertook community consultation and prepared a Design and Access Statement to accompany the outline planning application.  Planning permission was subsequently granted.  We are now providing planning advice in relation to a revised scheme for the employment element of development, and preparing to submit a fresh hybrid planning application that includes a detailed scheme for the first phase of development, and a detailed landscape design.
