BCU Inspired Grad Show 2022

The evening took place at Birmingham City University’s Parkside building which was a great opportunity to talk with other grads, lecturers and local professional landscape architects.  The Landscape Institute (Midlands) also take the opportunity to host their student award ceremony at the event with president elect Jane Findlay giving a very thought provoking speech.

Myself and Kate had a fantastic time at the BCU Inspired Grad show this year, presenting our ongoing thesis projects.  The night gave us a chance to celebrate the work of all BCU graduates from the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media.  It was a great opportunity to showcase the emerging talent to friends, family and working professionals and for students to see the variety of work that has been made across the school.

Kate Ellis had a particularly impressive evening winning the Willmott Dixon Design Competition, her wonderful design for the garden in Alum Rock, Birmingham, consisted of growing planters to bring the community together and a carefully chosen planting scheme to represent the local demographic. This is an amazing achievement and one that we will eventually be able to visit in person.

It was really encouraging to see our colleagues at Define attend the show and show their support.  As a student, It’s rewarding to see how far your work has come not only since the start of the course but also since starting work at Define.

The Grad Show 2022 was a great way to conclude the last 2/3 years at BCU and we to look forward to the future!
