Park(ing) Day: reimagining urban spaces
Reimagining Urban Spaces: Birmingham's first Park(ing) Day!
Park(ing) Day is a global movement that transforms ordinary parking spaces into vibrant, multifunctional areas, promoting community well-being and environmental sustainability. What started in 2005 with a small San Francisco studio turning a single parking spot into a mini park has since become a worldwide celebration of urban creativity and green spaces.
This year, Define took part in Birmingham’s first Park(ing) Day on Friday, 20th of September! Thanks to our collaborators, we brought our vision to life by installing a temporary parklet outside The Jointworks in the Jewellery Quarter, located at 45 Frederick St.
Thanks to all those who stopped by, grabbed a coffee, and connect with friends or colleagues, whilst relaxing in this refreshing public and urban green space. Our space showed how even the smallest of urban spaces can spark joy and community connections.
A big thanks to our collaborators: The Jointworks, Landmark, Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District, Whiting Landscape Limited and grounded. Birmingham!
