Landscape-led and connected with setting.
Saffron Walden is a historic market town with a rich history dating back to medieval times that is displayed in numerous distinctive buildings and groupings in and around the town.
Based on a set of clear design principles, our vision and masterplan for the site demonstrates how a settlement extension of approximately 230 high-quality homes can provide much-needed housing in a way that celebrates views into Saffron Walden (and of the distinctive Grade I Listed St. Mary’s Church and reconnects people with the historic landscape that forms the characteristic setting for the town.
Our vision for the site has been formulated to support an Outline Planning Application for the site and includes a network of multifunctional open spaces that include view corridors, new areas of woodland and boundary planting and a biodiverse lowland pasture.
A landscape-led approach means that the historic setting of Saffron Walden can be protected whilst retaining important features such as veteran trees and hedgerows that can maximise opportunities for habitat creation.
