Appreciating the Social Value embedded in Co-housing
Last September we booked to attend a guided tour at Marmalade Lane, as part of our office study trip in Cambridge, seeking inspiration from UK best practice precedents. It was a unique opportunity to engage directly with local residents, listen to their stories and learn from their living experience and design involvement in a scheme that we’ve used regularly as a precedent in our work.

Outdoor Activity Areas
I recently attended a CPD organised by the Landscape Institute on outdoor activity areas, it reminded me of my bus journey to and from the office. At the same point each day, I look out of the window and see deserted fitness machines on the edge of a new housing development. I often wondered why nobody used them, was it because I never pass through in the daytime? Was it because of their location next to a busy road into Birmingham? Or was it simply that people don’t like using them?

Perfectly pitched: A new state of the art pitch facility secured at the University of Bath
Bath and North East Somerset Council’s Planning Committee resolved to grant full planning permission for the construction of the new floodlit pitch and a multi-use games area on 28th June, marking the first step in the implementation of the University’s Campus Masterplan that was prepared by Define and which has now been incorporated into the adopted Local Plan.
A milestone of educational successes
Celebrating planning successes is always important, perhaps more so at a time when there is much uncertainty within our industry. Gaining permission for the rebuilding of Yeoman Park Academy in Mansfield was also a significant milestone.
Town Park Opens at the Wixams
We are delighted to see that the Town Park at the Wixams in Bedfordshire is now constructed and fully open to the public. Define have been providing landscape architecture design services to master developer L&Q Estates for a number of years.

Glasgow's Riverside Regeneration
We are delighted to announce that we have submitted detailed landscape proposals to support a planning application for the City Wharf scheme in Glasgow. The development will consist of 503 new residential apartments and 491 new student beds with over 4000sqft of new commercial space.

Bike park on track
We are really delighted that planning permission has been granted for Burlish Bike Park, a 16-acre woodland cycling facility on the northern edge of Stourport-on-Severn, that is currently being transformed by Open Trail.

If you’re really lucky you’ll be able to hop on some autonomous e-helicopter thing that will deliver Amazon packages on its way.
Driving the University of Bath's ambitions
Bath and North East Somerset Council has now adopted its Local Plan Partial Update. The LPPU includes ambitious policies in relation to climate change and biodiversity net gain, but also a new policy that relates to the University of Baths’ Claverton Campus.
