We are delighted to see that the Town Park at the Wixams in Bedfordshire is now constructed and fully open to the public. Define have been providing landscape architecture design services to master developer L&Q Estates for a number of years. Our work has ranged from a series of reserved matters applications all the way through to construction, on a site with over 4500 new homes and 121ha of parkland. The Town Park sits at the centre of this. A real success story in the early delivery of green infrastructure, the park will have the opportunity to mature prior to the planned residential and commercial uses around it being constructed, therefore providing the new community with an established park on their doorstep.

The new park is at the very heart of the entire site, with all routes culminating in key community uses at the centre including a play area, an events space, boules court and amenity lawns. A key feature of the site is the 400m outer circle path, that will allow people to walk, run or bike around the park. Part of this route takes people across the water via a 56m long footbridge that spans out over the lakes. A perfect place to watch nature.

The park is anticipated to be both a key destination within the site and part of a much wider recreational network of footpaths and cycleways.
